When most of us are making New Year’s resolutions that we are either unlikely or unwilling to keep, why not make a commitment to yourself to enhance and further enjoy your surfing? In addition to being a great workout, surfing is a fantastic way to de-stress and forget the day-to-day grind. Any of these resolutions could really benefit people who want to either take up the sport, or feel like they should be devoting more time to it. Surf More As simplistic as it sounds, the only way to improve at any pursuit is to practice. Putting in more hours in the wetsuit should help you stay in shape, improve your fitness and of course improve your skills. If you are lucky enough to live near a surfing hotspot, try hitting the waves out of season, or early in the morning, you should reap the rewards of some quiet waters, making for a fun and highly useful workout. Visit a New Destination The old adage that a “change is as good as a rest” applies to surfing as well as it does with other pursuits. If your skills are reaching a plateau and you are finding the motivation difficult, try booking a break to your dream surfing destination. Whether that is Australia, Hawaii or even as close to home as the Cornish coast, not only will you get to sample the waves in your dream spot, but your ongoing practice will receive an inevitable boost as your excitement peaks. |
