Given the financial hardships facing many of us now, people who enjoy a holiday on the slopes are having a difficult time finding the best value for money. This is especially true when looking at some of the more popular European destinations and resorts. The strength of the Swiss Franc against the Pound has seen prices in Switzerland rocket recently, with prices almost doubling in the last four years. There is good value to be found for those of us whose holiday is not complete without putting on a pair of ski goggles; the trick is finding it. Finding Value for Money When comparing the prices of certain destinations, it is important to not simply compare the accommodation rates to work out which is the best value. Other factors such as lift passes, food and drink, equipment hire and tuition should be taken into account, in order to find which is best for you. Clearly, the resort that represents the best value for a family of four will differ from that favoured by a pair of gap year teenagers, as the priorities of these groups will be different. Best Resorts for Add Ons Whilst resorts such as St Moritz in Switzerland score very poorly across the board for these additional extras, there is a range of resorts across Austria, France and Italy that fare pretty well. Resorts such as Mayrhofen and Schladming in Austria and Les Deux Alpes in France represent great value for these essential extras to a skiing holiday. |
